AFTER CARE & BEFORE CARE AT HALDANE

AFTERNOON ADVENTURE
2018-2019 Monthly Fees: - 1 day a week: $95, 2 days a week: $175, 3 days a week: $250, 4 days a week: $295, 5 days a week: $325.  Includes transportation from Haldane and Garrison School and classes marked with an asterisk.  Registration for the 2019-2020 school year will start March 18. Basics of Hand and Machine Sewing* 
Grades K-6
Ever wanted to learn how to bring your ideas to life using needle and thread? Come learn the basics including hand stitching, button sewing, the safe use of an iron, and sewing machine basics to create a simple project or two. No 5/27.

BEGINNING BALLET
Grades: K-1
This class focuses on technique and will include exercises at the barre in order to acquire the “placement,” strength and balance necessary to execute the center work correctly.  45 minute sessions. No class 4/16 and 4/18

Color Splash*
Grades K-6
If you are looking for fun and want to discover many different ways to create colorful abstract art, this class is for you.  You will learn about the masters of Action Painting, or the art of "paint-throwing"... masters like Jackson Pollock and de Kooning. We’ll also go back to basics with potato & vegetable/fruit prints, or we'll squeeze paint through plastic bags…in this class expect colors to splash!  Dress accordingly

Contemporary Dance Workshop
Grade 4
Technique within the class has elements of classical ballet, modern dance and jazz.  This foundation will allow the dancer to move more freely with ease and fluidity.  With the teacher’s guidance, dancers will construct choreography in an expressive style. The attire is “comfortable” with NO dance shoes. No 4/18.

Desserts Around the World*

Take a trip around the world and sample an assortment of sweet treats from around the globe, including tiramisu, matcha cookies and mini apple pies.  No 4/18.

Helping Hands*
Grades K-6
This is a class about giving back!  We’ll explore different ways to help and thank the people in our neighborhood. Each week will feature a different service activity- we may make get well cards one day, make comforting crafts to donate to local agencies another, and discuss other ways we can lend a hand to the world around us.

Modern Art from the Start* 
Grades K-6
We will begin to peek into the world of some of our more amazing modern artists.  With chalk pastels we'll dream like Marc Chagall did, or make polka dot pumpkins like Yayoi Kusama does and more. In the process, we will learn interesting facts about these amazing creative minds as well exploring different art techniques and mediums. No 4/17.

Musical Revue*

If you dream of singing onstage, here’s your chance to be in the spotlight.  Participants will help choose songs, rehearse, and perform in a musical showcase at Philipstown Recreation on Friday, June 14 at 7 pm.

The ABCs of Ceramic Mosaic*
Grades K-6
Let’s sketch, plan, and then safely use your hammers to crack up some ceramic tiles.  You'll get your hands messy with mortar and create some beautiful wall art or make a usable hot plate. No 4/15 and 4/22.
